No Mr. Kristol, Anti Trumpers and Conservatives Shouldn't Help Biden
To do so is to sell out our principles just to spite Trump.
Back in February of this year, former Republican and adamant anti-Trump pundit Bill Kristol proposed a solution for conservatives who have left the Republican party due to Donald Trump’s lack of true conservative beliefs. Kristol offered an alternative path in which he says...
“Mightn’t one consider allying oneself with the Biden wing of the Democratic party?”
Like many other disenfranchised republicans, Kristol has often rightfully railed against the GOP’s more complacent parts of the party, who have allowed Trump to keep captive the once-promising party of limited government, semi free-market economics (not as much as needed mind you), and one that has the potential to bring libertarians into the fold, but Kristol is ignoring one major factor in this conundrum. That is, that Joe Biden is not to be dealt with.
While I understand that the GOP is not in its greatest shape, it is foolish to go out and try to persuade a principled group of people, into leaving behind everything they once stood for and support a man who has consistently stood against all of the said principles all his life (Limited gov., Free Markets, and Individualism) and yes I understand Donald Trump is also the epitome of the opposite value system, but while Bill has called them out for their complacency and inconsistency would we not also do the same to those following Bill’s “solution?”
Later Bill writes...
“So why not Biden? Why not Bidenism?”
Answering his question of “Why not Bidenism” is quite axiomatic. No self-respecting conservative would dare side with a man who is pushing trillions in new spending, seeks to weaken our influence in the world, or increase the size of the federal government to new extremes. Neither should we support a man who has consistently acquiesced to progressives (examples being spending, energy, and foreign affairs) Following this path does not make us better than Trump it makes us look like Trump. I say this due to Donald Trump practically endorsing Stacy Abrams after GA governor Kemp ignored Trump's cries of election fraud.
So no, anti trumpers, disenfranchised conservatives, or current republicans should not move to help a man who has and will always stand against what we fight for.
